Labels: , , , , , , , ,

I took some photos during last week. I love most of them. But I'm not satisfied with my photo taking skill. I need to learn more and more. I have learnt some lessons last week.I found out that moving objects are difficult to get the right focus. I'm glad that I got some experiences. Actually I would like to participate in Thai International Photo Contest 2009.[Link] But I'm a bit late for this year. I will try to participate in next coming year. I'm glad that there are some users who visit to my blog very often. I would like to say thanks to those who often visit to my blog.I promise that I will try to post valuable posts as much as I could. My mid-term exam is coming. Wish me best of luck for the exam.I will post my new posts after my mid-term exam. Currently you could go and visit my uploaded new photos on my flickr and enjoy viewing my photos on flickr.

My New Lens

I bought a new lens Nikon 50mm f/1.8 two days before yesterday. I took a few photos with it.I'm not satisfied myself. I need to improve a lot. This news lens is not a very expensive one.It is good for taking portriate photos. It needs to adjust the distance between the object that we would like to take.Photos appears like very sharply. It will also make the user to get a very fast auto focus on the object.
You can read more about my new lens here [link][link]

Here is a photo that I took it with my new lens.

Michael Jackson family says concert plans too much for him

Michael Jackson's father said the King of Pop was not ready to perform 50 shows in London, in a TV interview that aired the day the singer was scheduled to start his long-awaited comeback.

Joe Jackson told ABC News that his son told him that he only agreed to perform 10 shows in London, but that the concert promoter booked more shows to bring the total to 50.

"I was worried about his health, because all the shows that I'm seeing, no artist can do that many shows back to back like that," Joe Jackson told ABC News in an interview broadcast on Monday. "So I knew Michael couldn't do all those shows without some rests in between."

In a statement, Randy Phillips, president and chief executive of concert promoter AEG Live, acknowledged on Monday that the number of shows was originally lower, but said Jackson had agreed to perform more.

"Our original agreement with Michael Jackson called for 31 shows," Phillips said.

When the response to the initial announcement of 10 shows was so overwhelming, AEG Live went to Jackson's then advisor, Dr. Tohme Tohme, and asked if the singer would be willing to do more, Phillips said. The first show was scheduled for July 13 with the remainder were spread out until February 2010.

Tohme told AEG Live that Jackson would perform 50, and Jackson himself said he was motivated to embark on a record-setting run of concerts, Phillips said.

The singer, 50, had previously passed a lengthy physical head of his first live concert series in 12 years and was rehearsing in Los Angeles the day before his death.

Jackson died of cardiac arrest on June 25, after he stopped breathing and paramedics were called to his Los Angeles home.

In a separate interview, Michael Jackson's sister, La Toya Jackson, told British newspaper The Daily Mail that her brother was "murdered" by a conspiracy of people around him.

La Toya Jackson said she believes her brother was overworked to rehearse and prepare for the concert series, and that he was intentionally separated from his family.

After the L.A. Coroner examined Jackson's body, his family ordered a second, private autopsy on the singer.

"He had needle marks on his neck and his arms and more about those will emerge in the next few weeks," La Toya Jackson told the Daily Mail.

"I cannot discuss that any further as I may jeopardize the investigation," she said. "I can, however, say that I have not changed my mind about my feeling that Michael was murdered."

La Toya Jackson also said her suspicions were raised by medical equipment, including oxygen tanks and a stand with a cord hanging down, in a room at her brother's home.

Media reports have said that the dangerous sedative Diprivan -- normally used in hospitals by anesthesiologists -- was found at the singer's home.

Los Angeles police have revealed few details of their investigation, and the L.A. Coroner said it will release the results of its autopsy within weeks.

9 Pet Photography Tips [ DPS ]

Labels: , , , ,

This is a nice post from digital photography school so called DPS.[link]

Pets fill very quickly their place in our hearts and families and we enjoy having their pictures framed on our desk or wall! However taking pictures of your best friend is not always easy. Pets, unlike humans, do not understand what we are trying to do and won’t just pose for the camera! Here are 9 tips that will help you help you get the most of your photo session.

1. Use Natural Light

If possible always use natural light when taking your pet in picture. Avoid flash, as flash burst can, not only cause red-eye, but also frighten the animal. Instead try to go outside or, if it is not possible, in a room well lit by a large window.

2. Keep the Eyes Sharp

Having sharp eyes is important in any kind of portraits photography. As they say, “Eyes are the Window to the Soul” and pets eye can be very expressive. So make sure to focus on your pet’s eyes and keep the tack sharp.

3. Go to Them

It is very important that you pet feels comfortable and at ease, so instead of forcing him to come to you go to him. Most important is to get down to his level; We all know how a dog looks when viewed from above, this is the way we always see them. Show us the way they see world! Sit on the floor or lie on your belly and remember to shoot from HIS eye level or below.

4. Give Value to their Character

You know your pet better than anyone else, and a successful picture is one that conveys the character of its subject. If you have a lazy cat show him yawning, if your animal is of a playful type show him in action performing his favorite trick.

5. Go Macro

Put on that long lens and fill the frame with your pet’s face and fur, close up shots often make beautiful animal portrait.

6. Surprise Them

One of the most difficult things is to let your pet hold still. An easy trick is to let him play quietly and, once you have everything ready, let someone call for him or whistle. This will surprise him and caught his attention and you will have a few seconds to capture him in a nice and alert posture.

7. Schedule your Session

If you are longing for a formal pet portrait shot, try to schedule the photo session when you’re animal is somewhat sleepy or has just woke up it will be much easier to keep him still then. If you want a more dynamic shot then pick up a time when your pet is energetic. If he is sick it is better to just postpone it for another day.

8. Be Patient

Pet photography requires a lot of patience. No matter how excited your furry friend is, if you are patient enough, he will end up by relaxing and you will have the opportunity to get a decent shot.

9. Experiment

Take your time and enjoy the session, try different approaches, angles and compositions. Shoot a lot you will have time to worry about the results later.

You have a tip that I forgot to mention here ? Make sure to share it with us.

About the Use of Dot-Slash in Commands

Labels: , ,

The combination of a dot followed directly by a forward slash (./) is often used to precede commands in Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. Although this requirement can seem confusing and even tedious to new users, it exists for good reason and can be useful to understand.

Commands in Unix-like operating systems are either built-ins or executables. The former (e.g., alias, cd, echo, kill, ls and pwd) are part of the shell that is currently running, and thus the shell can always locate them. In contrast, the shell needs help in finding the latter, which can be divided into compiled programs and shell scripts. A compiled program is a program whose source code (i.e., its original, human-readable form) has been converted through the use of a compiler into an executable file (i.e., a ready-to-run form).

A shell is a program that provides the traditional, text-only user interface for Unix-like operating systems. Its primary function is to read commands that are typed in at the command line (i.e., in a text-only mode) and then execute (i.e., run) them. A shell script is a short program that is written in a shell programming language and interpreted (i.e., converted into runnable form) by a shell process.

When some text is typed into a shell and then the ENTER key is pressed, the shell assumes that it is a command. The shell immediately checks to see if the first string (i.e., sequence of characters) in that text is a built-in command or the absolute path (i.e., location relative to the root directory) to an executable.

If it is neither of these, the shell will search the directories listed in that users' PATH environmental variable for a file with that name. PATH (all upper case letters) tells the shell which directories to search for commands in response to commands issued by the user.

If the command is found, it will be executed, assuming that there are no other problems. If it is not found, an error message, such as command not found, will be returned.

Most users work most of the time in their home directory and subdirectories thereof because of convenience and for safety reasons. However, by default such directories are not included in the user's PATH variable. Thus when the user creates a script or compiles a program in one of those directories and attempts to run it by merely typing in its name, an error message will be returned.

However, this problem can be easily overcome by typing a dot and slash in front of the command name. This is merely an abbreviated way to inform the shell that the absolute path of that file is the current directory (i.e., the directory in which the user is currently working). In Unix-like operating systems, a single dot is used to represent the current directory in a path (i.e., the location of a file or directory in the filesystem), including those used in commands. Likewise, forward slashes are used to separate directories and files in paths.

Files in the current directory can be accessed for reading and writing by merely entering the command name (e.g., cat or vi) followed by the name of the file. That is, no absolute path is necessary. However, when execution is desired, either an absolute path (or its dot slash equivalent) or the inclusion of the directory containing the command's executable file in the PATH variable is necessary. This is a built-in safety mechanism.

A user could eliminate the need to precede commands by a dot slash by appending a single dot to the PATH variable, because this would tell the shell to also search the current directory. However, this is generally not advisable on safety and security grounds. For example, were the user to inadvertently create a shell script with the same name as a standard command, the shell could execute the former instead of the latter, thereby causing the system to malfunction, or worse.1

A better alternative if one wants to eliminate the need to precede commands by a dot slash is to create a special directory for the executable files of such commands, and then add this directory to the PATH variable. For example, a user named bob could create a directory named bin in his home directory (i.e., /home/bob/bin/) for this purpose.

Another approach for making it easy to run a program that is installed in a non-standard directory is to create a symbolic link to it (using the ln command with its -s option), and then put the link in a directory that is already in the PATH variable. This can be a safer alternative to adding more directories to PATH.

The command "." [dot] means "run a command script in the current shell"

RIP Michael Jackson & Black Or White

Labels: , , ,

As you all know that King of Pop, Michael Jackson has passed away and his funeral has been held in LA last a few days ago.I haven't write any post yet regarding his sad news since I was so busy sometimes. He is a talented person. You can look at by watching his dance.Nobody expect that he will die at this age. Life is too short. We have to try the best in life before we die. He has done the best in his life. That's why he became the King of Pop. I had watched his funeral live show. Really sorry for his family. Especially for his young daughter. She was crying on the stage by telling that Michael is the best father ever for her.Rest in Peace Michael Jackson. Everybody has to walk this way in a day. You just walk this way faster than others.

Meta tags are generally used to include information about a document such as author name, creation date, copyright information etc. They always placed between the tags of an HTML document.
Each Meta tag has two important attributes:

1) HTTP-EQUIV or NAME and
2)CONTENT

The HTTP-EQUIV attribute takes one of the values mentioned below:

1)CONTENT-TYPE: The most commonly used content type is text/html. Other types can be employed to include the character set for the document. This helps the browser to load the appropriate character before document display.

2)EXPIRES: Specifies the date and time after which a document should be considered expired. This can be used by web robots update content in a search engine.

3)CACHE-CONTROL: Determines the caching of the document.

4)CONTENT-LANGUAGE: Used to specify the language in which the document is written.

5)REFRESH: This value is commonly used to either redirect users to a different page or refresh the contents of the present page.

The HTTP-EQUIV attribute is used in place of the NAME attribute to indicate that the property should be treated as an HTTP header.

The above code tells the browser to load http://www.nyinyimyanmar.co.cc/ 10 seconds after the current document has finished loading. Not all browsers support this, so authors should provide an alternate means of moving to the new page where necessary. The Refresh header is sometimes used for "splash screens" or when a page has moved, but the technique is not very effective since users may not even be looking at the window that is to be refreshed. Some search engines penalize pages that use a Refresh of a few seconds or less.Suppose www.livescore.com I'm sure that page has to refresh automatically whenever the score is updated

Telnet vs SSH

Labels: , ,

ssh stands for Secure Shell and telnet is only kept around for old network appliances and routers.ssh has compression so over slow links it better than telnet.ssh allows tunneling of X, again compressed, which makes remote X faster and secure. Also nautilus supports ssh as a remote transport which makes for a very useful option for remote file browsing.Telnet is insecure. Both Telnet and SSH were almost similar protocols.Telnet transmitted all information as plain text, including sensitive information like passwords etc.SSH uses a very strong cryptography mechanism to shield the connection from possible hijackers and eavesdroppers.

How Twitter can Make you a Better Photographer

Labels: , , , ,

I found a nice post @ Digital photography school so called DPS.[link]It is a nice post and I want to share the post with you guys. Here is the original link.[link].I hope that you will learn something by reading the post.

In this post naturalist, photographer, and computer scientist Steve Berardi from PhotoNaturalist explains how Twitter can make you a better photographer.?
If you’re not on Twitter yet, then you might think it’s just a place for people to talk about what they had for dinner. Although there’s plenty of that going around on there, Twitter can also be a great tool for networking with other photographers and expanding your knowledge.

It’s always hard to explain exactly what Twitter is, but basically it allows you to create a never-ending conversation about the things you love.

For example, I love nature and photography, so I choose to follow anyone else who loves nature or photography. I’ve built a conversation of people who love to share their great stories, photographs, useful links, and their wonderful stores of knowledge.

So, here are at least five ways Twitter can make you a better photographer:

1 - Meet new photographers

Twitter is all about networking with other people and creating a conversation with them (you choose to follow people, and others choose to follow you). Naturally, you’ll meet a lot of great people with a lot of great stuff to share.

2 - Stay up to date with photography news

Twitter is often explained as a real-time social network, and as a result it quickly covers news stories. For example, it can help make you one of the first people to know about the release of a new camera, or Canon’s release of the new 5D Mk II firmware.

3 - Instant feedback on your photos

One of the best ways to improve your photography is to continually seek honest feedback on your photos. Flickr is great for this, but Twitter is even better because you get instant results. Just post a link to one of your photos on Twitter, and ask your followers what they think (it works best when you ask a specific question, like “do you think this shot is underexposed?”).

4 - Ask questions, and get answers

Although there are plenty of great photography forums out there where you can ask your questions, Twitter helps you get instant answers (if you have enough followers). This usually works best with short questions that also have short answers, like “can anyone recommend a good tripod?”

5 - Teaches you to be concise

As you might already know, each tweet (or message) you post on Twitter needs to be 140 characters or less. This forces you to be concise.

How does this make you a better photographer? Well, one of the most important lessons you’ll learn in photography is to reduce your subject or scene to its most essential elements. When you’re constantly forced to do this on Twitter, the habit will often overflow to other aspects of your life, like photography :)

The secret to getting the most out of Twitter: give before you receive

Twitter isn’t just about receiving though. In fact, it’s much more about giving. No one will pay attention to you or follow you if you don’t engage with other tweeters (or tweeple - people who use Twitter), and help others out. So, share what you know or find, and join the conversation–don’t just sit and listen!

How to Get Started with Twitter

1. Signup for an account at www.twitter.com
2. Look for photographers to follow, here are a few to get you started: @digitalps (our DPS account)/ @artwolfe / @chasejarvis / @jeremycowart / @neilcreek / @jimgoldstein / @ricksammon / @scottbourne / @zarias / @strobist.
3. Start tweeting! Share useful links you find, photos you took, reply to other tweets, answer questions, etc.?

PS from Darren: Also check out the comments of this post where over 500 other DPS readers have left their Twitter usernames. Add as many of them as you can and you’ll be connecting with other DPS readers and photography enthusiasts on Twitter. Don’t forget to leave your own username in the comments on that post so others can find you too!

Also check out TwiTip Twitter Tips - another site that I run. It contains hundreds of twitter tips for those starting out with the medium.

About the Author: Steve Berardi is a naturalist, photographer, and computer scientist. You can usually find him hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains or the Mojave Desert, both located in the beautiful state of California.
